The Ethicon MONOCRYL™ Absorbable Suture Y423H is a sterile synthetic absorbable monofilament suture manufactured from poliglecaprone 25, designed for soft tissue approximation and ligation.

MONOCRYL™ sutures are prepared from a copolymer of glycolide and ε-caprolactone, offering excellent handling characteristics, smooth tissue passage and dependable knot security during surgical procedures.

The monofilament structure helps reduce tissue drag and minimises the risk of bacterial adherence compared with braided sutures, making MONOCRYL™ suitable for delicate soft tissue closure.

This version of MONOCRYL™ is supplied undyed, providing a clear monofilament option that may be preferred in procedures where minimal visual contrast is required.

Poliglecaprone 25 has been shown to be non-antigenic, non-pyrogenic and associated with minimal tissue reaction during absorption, supporting predictable wound healing.

MONOCRYL™ sutures are widely used in general surgery, plastic surgery, dermatologic procedures and subcuticular skin closure, where smooth tissue passage and reliable absorbable wound support are required.
