We may continue to send non-marketing communications concerning orders, accounts, safety notices or service matters.
10. International transfers
Some service providers may process personal information outside the United Kingdom.
Where a restricted international transfer occurs, we use a lawful transfer mechanism where required. This may include UK adequacy regulations, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, the UK Addendum to approved standard contractual clauses or another legally recognised safeguard.
11. Data retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including legal, accounting, tax, warranty, fraud-prevention and dispute-resolution requirements.
Our usual retention approach is:
- Order, invoice, payment and tax records: normally six years after the end of the relevant accounting period;
- Customer account records: while the account remains active and for a reasonable period afterwards;
- General enquiries and customer-service correspondence: normally up to 24 months after the matter is closed, unless needed for an order, complaint or legal claim;
- Marketing information: until you opt out or the information is no longer required; and
- Technical and security logs: for a period appropriate to security, fraud prevention and system administration.
Information may be retained for longer where required by law or where necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
