The Ethicon MONOCRYL™ PLUS Antibacterial Suture MCP3755G is a sterile synthetic absorbable monofilament suture manufactured from poliglecaprone 25, designed for soft tissue approximation and ligation.

MONOCRYL™ PLUS sutures incorporate IRGACARE® MP (triclosan), a broad-spectrum antibacterial agent that has been shown in vitro to inhibit bacterial colonisation on the suture surface. This antibacterial protection helps reduce the risk of microbial attachment to the suture during the wound healing period.

The monofilament construction provides smooth tissue passage while minimising tissue trauma and reducing the potential for bacterial adherence compared with braided sutures.

MONOCRYL™ PLUS sutures are dyed violet using D&C Violet No.2, improving visibility during surgical procedures. Sutures are also available in undyed versions depending on clinical preference.

Poliglecaprone 25 has been demonstrated to be non-antigenic, non-pyrogenic and associated with minimal tissue reaction during absorption, making it suitable for delicate tissue approximation.

The suture is supplied attached to a stainless steel MH-1 needle and packaged sterile for single-use surgical procedures.

MONOCRYL™ PLUS sutures are widely used in general surgery, plastic surgery, dermatologic closure and subcuticular skin closure procedures where antibacterial suture protection may be beneficial.
