Ethicon VICRYL is a sterile, synthetic, absorbable surgical suture composed of a copolymer made of 90% glycolide and 10% L-lactide (polyglactin 910). The suture is braided and coated to enhance handling characteristics, knot security and smooth tissue passage.

This USP 1 violet suture is supplied as four 45 cm (18 inch) strands per unit and is armed with a single-armed CT-1+ taper point CONTROL RELEASE needle measuring 36 mm with a 1/2 circle curvature, designed to provide smooth, atraumatic penetration while allowing the needle to be detached without cutting.

VICRYL sutures are absorbed by hydrolysis and have been shown to be nonantigenic, nonpyrogenic and to elicit only a slight tissue reaction during absorption. Each suture is sterile, single use and supplied in boxes of 12 for professional hospital and clinical environments.
